Basketball hoop removal
Portable, mounted or in the ground
Basketball goals come in a few types, and each comes down a different way. Portable hoops stand on a weighted base. Some backboards are bolted to the house or garage. In-ground systems have a pole set into the ground, often in concrete.
For an in-ground goal, you choose how it comes out. We can remove the pole and dig out the concrete footing, or cut the pole flush with the ground and leave the footing buried. Many customers choose the flush cut because it costs less. Digging out the footing costs extra.
When you book, tell us which kind of hoop you have. We look at it at the free on-site estimate and price both options for an in-ground goal, so you can decide before any work starts.
Taken apart where it stands
You don't need to lower the backboard or drag anything to the curb. We take the hoop apart in the driveway or yard, load the backboard, rim, pole and hardware, and pick up the loose pieces before we go.
A hoop that's still in good shape can go to donation. The steel pole and hardware go to metal recycling where possible, and only what's left goes to disposal.
Clearing more of the yard?
A hoop often comes down when the kids have grown up, and the old trampoline and swing set go at the same time. We can take all of it in one visit, and you pay for the total space it takes in our truck. We remove basketball goals across the Main Line, Montgomery County, nearby Delaware and Chester County, and Northwest Philadelphia.
When you book
- 1Tell us whether the hoop is portable, mounted on the house or set in the ground.
- 2If it stands in the driveway, plan to move the cars so we can work around it.
- 3If it's portable, let us know whether the base still has water or sand in it.

Questions
Do I need to take the hoop down first?
No. Taking it apart is part of the job. Show us where it is and we handle the rest.
What about a hoop set in concrete?
We can remove it, concrete footing included. Many customers have the pole cut flush with the ground instead, because it costs less; digging out the footing costs extra. We price both options at the free on-site estimate and you choose before we start.
What happens to the old hoop?
If it's still usable it can go to donation. Otherwise the metal goes to recycling where possible, and only the rest goes to disposal.
How is basketball hoop removal priced?
By the space the pieces take up in our truck, with labor, disposal and taxes included. You get a firm price at the free on-site estimate, before we start.
