Piano removal
Heavy, awkward and worth planning
Pianos are among the heaviest things in a house, and most of that weight is a cast-iron plate inside the case. Getting one out takes a crew, the right technique and a clear path, which is why we ask a few questions before the job instead of just showing up.
Tell us where it is
We take uprights, spinets, consoles and grand pianos, and we move them up or down stairs, so a piano on an upper floor or in the basement isn't a problem.
When you book, let us know what kind of piano it is, which floor it's on, and whether there are steps, tight turns or a narrow doorway between it and the way out. We look at the piano and the route at the free on-site estimate and give you a firm price before we lift anything.
A new home when we can find one
When a piano is still in good playing shape, we try to find it a new home through donation. Donation centers rarely accept pianos, though, so that isn't always possible. When it isn't, the wood and metal go to recycling where possible and only the rest goes to disposal.
We remove pianos from homes on the Main Line, across Montgomery County, in nearby Delaware and Chester County, and in Northwest Philadelphia.
Before we arrive
- 1Empty the bench and clear anything off the top of the piano.
- 2Clear a path from the piano to the door.

Questions
Can you take a grand piano, or one upstairs or in a basement?
Yes. We take grand pianos as well as uprights, and we move pianos up or down stairs. Tell us about the stairs when you book so we can plan the route, and you get a firm price at the free on-site estimate.
What happens to the piano?
When it's still in good playing shape, we try to find it a new home through donation. Donation centers rarely accept pianos, so that isn't always possible. When it isn't, the wood and metal are recycled where possible, and only the rest goes to disposal.
Can you take other furniture in the same trip?
Yes. Couches, dressers, beds and anything else that's going can leave in the same visit, and you pay for the total space it takes in our truck.
How is piano removal priced?
We give you a firm price at the free on-site estimate, once we've seen the piano and the way out. Labor, disposal and taxes are included.
